Portland Oregan Gay Chat Line Robber Sentenced To 14.5 Years In Prison

Elijah Whitney Cohens II reached out and touched someone alright, many someones as Cohen used Gay Sex Chatlines in the Portland OR area to rob at least 4 -6 gay men in a 4 week period between May – June of 2011

Investigators say that Cohen’s tactics and targets varied widely and victims ranged in age from their 20s to 60s.  But after setting a date via phone and meeting-up  Cohen always said he was a police officer — and that he had a gun. (Cohens also had sex with two victims before robbing them.)

Cohen’s even  tracked down one victim at the victim’s apartment, although the victim hadn’t given Cohens his address. Cohens tied him up and walked out with $5,000 worth of the man’s valuables, including a big-screen TV.

Portland police were able to track down Cohens because of DNA he left behind a cigarette the  DNA was matched with a previous sample entered into the state database after Cohens’ previous felony convictions, which include robbery, forgery, assault and burglary.

Cohens pleaded guilty in Multnomah County Circuit Court to first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and criminal impersonation of an officer. Judge Angel Lopez sentenced Cohens to 150 months (14.5 years) in prison and ordered him to pay $7,000 in restitution.
