"In God's Silence": First Book Update

First of all thank you to those of you who still come to read this blog.  It is deeply appreciated.  I know posting has been eradicate but life does every now and then comes up and things must be dealt with.

The last few months for me, physically speaking, have been very rough.  The pain in my chest and back, for the last ten years, is again at its worst.  The doctor I'm seeing for this thinks its Neuropathy.  To tell you the truth I'm not sure if that is what it is or not.  I just know I am in horrific pain.  The last two weeks or so I've slept on the couch, which is the only lace I can get comfortable.  I also think this pain, at times, effects my ability to think clearly and rationally which then affects my ability to write.

My new (and first) book is doing extremely well.  I've sold forty copies in the three weeks it has been available on Amazon.com.  I have managed to get my book in the Kent State University at Stark book store--- for sale, and also in their lending libraries and archives.  There are perks to being alumni.  I also have my book on the desk of the manager of the Fairlawn, Ohio Barnes & Noble for consideration.

My first reviews for my book (outside of a class room where this project started) has come out:

"I am halfway through the book and I must say it is very riveting.  This book will go far.  Thank  you Charles Dale for such a memorable story." Mrs. Ginny Greenhill

From author of "Beyond John Dunn" and "The Light of a Bright Sun" Thurman P. Banks Jr.

A heart-wrenching trial of love, loss, and hope
I struggle to find the words that can adequately describe Charlie Dale's debut. A truly gifted wordsmith, Charlie mingles in the world of poetry, prophecy, and prose that often left me rereading for the simple pleasure of basking in the beauty of Mr. Dale's writing style. "In God's Silence", we walk a mile and more in young Christoph's shoes, a diffucult task for even the most fleeting of foot. We find ourselves lost in love, lost in a family that has turned their hearts on (against) us, and lost in ( a) box, imprisoned in Aushcwitz, (and)  imprisoned in our mind. Charlie Dale doesn't just tell us about atrocities, he shows us with a gentle hand and open heart, he guides us through a world we have never seen. For this, for all of this, I am grateful. If the true mark of a great book is the life that lingers on, than you can mark my words that this is a great book, as "In God's Silence", I will forever hear the voices that remain.

I also have my first public presentation this Friday at Kent State University at Stark for the Honor's College Conference in Room 212 in the Fine Arts Building.  I start at 9:00 a.m.  I will:

  1.  Be speaking about the background and research that went into this book
  2.  what prompted it.
  3. I will be reading a passage from the book.
  4. Showing a short movie of images I found.
  5. And finally taking questions about the project and book.
Then on May 16th at 7:00 p.m. I have my first public "Meet and Greet the Author" at Keillor's a Teddy Bear Shoppe at 117 Canal Street, Canal Fulton, OH  where I will be doing the same thing as I did at KSU with the addition of wine, cheese and finger-foods.

If you haven't gotten your signed book yet you need to email me at cdale9966@me.com to put in your request.  The book is $15 plus a $4.00 shipping charge within the USA if it has to be shipped.  Over seas prices vary depending on distention; or you can order a non-signed book through Amazon.com at

Nicholas K---Fall 2011

If you read the post I did on the Perry Ellis Fall 2011 men's wear line then you will appreciate what I am going to say here.  Because when it comes to try to convey to you what I wanted to say Nicholas K has done with the Men's wear portion of this collection.  I am currently in a Draping 2 class at Kent State University, which by the way I love.  But after the third class I sat wondering if draping had been done in men's wear.  At that time I simply did not have an answer.  Thankfully Nicholas K does draping in men's wear and in my opinion he does it beautifully without the finished product being to "feminine".  He achieves what I was trying to say in that Perry Ellis post.  The classic but with some form of twist to it and that I ADORE! Well hopefully there will be more of this kind of thinking in other men's collections.  Until next time I am so glad we had this time together!

Number of Visitors comment and other stuff

OK, I know readership has undergone this huge transformation and believe me, I am ever so grateful, its beyond my mere words how emotional I am about all of you coming here and reading over and over again.  What I find utterly fascinating is that somehow, someway we have had 660 more readers this month so far than the entire month of December, which was record numbers!  That blows my mind.  I think personally, it is the combination of what I am doing that makes all of you come back.  The stories of interest, the breaking news, the photographs I find of fashion, fashion models and of course you my readers have proven you love the near naked guys.  I mean who doesn't love prime gorgeous men especially when they are near naked to naked.  I know, I know pandering to the lowest common denominator, but you have proven that there is REAL interest especially in regard to fashion.

I am going to be speaking with a gal about adding some advertising to the site, where we all benefit and maybe in return their maybe some pay to what I say.  Now I do not want you all getting the wrong idea.  I LOVE writing this blog, it keeps me motivated, it keeps me reading and it keeps you all coming back.  I would continue writing forever for free; but when she said I could get paid for what I am doing here, why the hell not.  The money would come in handy for school you know, because kids IT IS EXPENSIVE!!  Even with the grant I get which covers some, college is way pricey.  Besides I just continue from what I understand  to do what I do best---write and you all well you just keep coming back.  Nothing but some ads would be the change.  If this is not the case then I am not going that route and will continue blogging for nothing.  Will let you all know how it progresses and if I decide to do it.

In the mean time, OY VEY and dear g-d these long farkakt (screwed-up) days at Kent (Main campus) are just BRUTAL.  First class at 10:45 and I am there till 8:30 at night.  Thank g-d for my 4 hour break but honestly it has been very rough getting use to.  I am learning so much and so far my first assignment got me an A!!!  Yeah me, right?!  Hopefully it gets better and I get use to my two long days.  In the mean time thank you for visiting, please come back often, feel free to comment and of course finally........ I am so glad we had this time together.

A long day

It has been a rough day.  First thing this morning I had a CAT scan at Mercy Medical Center to see if I have passed my kidney stone or has it moved.  According to the registration my second CAT scan in three months.  Discouraging isn't it?  The drink they had me drink for the test was just horrid, I would have rather chewed on a sock I wore for a week which I think would have tasted better.  The contrast they shot in me gave me a mild headache and it just seemed to set the mood for the rest of the day.  By the time I got home from College Writing II the diarrhea set in and has continued all night.

Of course by mid afternoon I had to lay down and had as I call it a crash day.  The lack of sleep, the work overload, the stress and not feeling well took it toll.  That toll today has been huge.  I did get some homework done but not nearly what I wanted to do. G-d what am I to do about it?  I do know one thing for sure, no surgery to remove this stone until after this semester is over.  I just couldn't handle that too this semester, there is no doubt in my mind about it. I know I am not going to back done from that decision, for me there is way to much at stake.

I went and got the paperwork today to become part of the Honor's Program at Kent State University which I am really excited about.  It seems like a program where I could really excel as well as something I want to do for myself.  It maybe more work but in my mind it is going to be worth it.

I got my "big brother" for Phi Sigma Pi Sunday night and hopefully we will really get to know one another.  I didn't get the position of President or Vice President for our class and while I am a tiny bit disappointed it makes me feel more like an outsider more than anything.  I need to learn not to take things so personally.

I guess I just want so much out of this whole over all experience.  I have never wanted anything so bad in my life.  My expectations to be very honest are VERY high.  If they aren't met how do I handle that, I have no real idea. Knowing my history if it I fall short I will be depressed and feel rather inadequate.  I guess I just do my best and live with it.

Tomorrow's post vintage photographs of female impesonators.  Well until next time I am so glad we had this time together.
