Catholic Diocese Pulls Homeless Shelter Funding Because One Employee Supports Gays

The Catholic Diocese of Sacramento no longer will fund programs at Francis House, a nonprofit agency that serves homeless people, because of its new director’s views supporting abortion rights and gay marriage.
In a letter last month, the diocese’s director of social services said the Rev. Faith Whitmore’s public statements on the issues clash with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Therefore, said the Rev. Michael Kiernan, the social services director, it is “impossible for the diocese to continue funding Francis House” as part of its annual Catholic Appeal.

Francis House provides has been providing people with access to transportation and housing in the Sacramento area for 42 years. 25,000 people in need receive care at Francis House each year.

“We serve the poor,” he said. “We don’t have a litmus test for homeless people when they come in. We don’t ask them for their position on choice and gay marriage. We just help them. But for whatever reason, the diocese made those issues a higher priority than the mission.”

Two Boys Murdered Because You Want to Get Married

By now it’s no surprise that the anti-gay extremists at Westboro Baptist Church picket funerals. But I can’t lie when I say that I amshocked, disgusted, and saddened by WBC’s plans to protest at the funeral of two Washington boys who were murdered by their father. Their reason? Gay marriage.

Come again?

 

Apparently Washington’s Wednesday vote to legalize gay marriage was enough to cause the boys’ father Josh Powell to murder his two sons Charlie, 7, and Braden, 5, and then blow up all three of them up in a gasoline-fueled inferno last Sunday. After all, he was an anti-gay psychic, right?

Let’s just be clear in case there was any doubt: The Powell boys were not murdered as a demonstration of God’s disapproval of gay marriage in Washington State. Not at all. That doesn’t happen. That idea is dumb. It’s just really, really dumb, for real.

Joking aside and disregarding the complete stupidity that is the Westboro Baptist Church’s logic, the situation is tragic. The boys lived with their grandparents after their mother went missing in 2009. Their father was in the midst of seeking child custody. Records show Josh Powell sent goodbye emails minutes before a social worker dropped the boys off for the visit that ended their lives.

Margie Phelps, daughter of the founder of WBC and never one to be sensitive to… well, anything, tweeted that the protest will also be a demonstration for Governor Christine Gregoire who announced her support for marriage equality and is expected to sign the law next week.

“You see friends, our job is to show his nation its sins. #GettingYourAttention” Phelps tweeted this afternoon.

No, Margie. Your job is to stay the hell out of this funeral and let families grieve a tragic loss.

CBS Airs Anti-Gay Group Focus on the Family Ad During Tim Tebow’s Broncos v. Patriots Game

CBS has once again aired a commercial by the vehemently anti-gay extremist group Focus on the Family during one its nationally broadcast football games between FOF Poster boy Tim Tebow’s Denver Broncos and The New England Patriots.  (You may remember last year that CBS aired an anti-abortion commercial from FOF which actually starred Tebow and his mother.)

The commercial entitled John 3:16, the biblical quote numbers that Tebow wears under his eyes is the quote that “God doth love the word” and FOF uses children to promote it.

God may so love the world but so is not true of Focus on the Family. 

FOF is anti-choice, anti-gay, and against sex education curricula. FOF also focuses on religion in public schools, encouraging Christian teachers to establish prayer groups in schools although it points out that it doesn’t support teacher-led prayer for fear that a teacher would encourage Christian students “to pray to Allah, Buddha or the goddess Sophia against the wishes of the parents and/or students.”   FOF is a strong supporter of the Defense of Marriage and works against “special rights” for homosexuals and hate crime legislation, and supports “reparative therapy” for homosexuality, which has been widely discredited and rejected by the vast majority of doctors and physicians. FOF sponsors “Love Won Out,” conferences held around the U.S. that claim to prove that “homosexuality is preventable and treatable,” where many of the speakers are “ex-gays.” “Love Won Out” is from the title of a book by John Paulk, an “ex-gay” who is the host of the conferences and is an employee of Focus on the Family.  For those ex-gays who cannot change, FOF considers sexual celibacy another option. FOF regularly asserts the idea that there is a “homosexual agenda” and associates homosexuals with pedophilia and recruitment of children as sex partners.
This is the group that CBS allowed to air a commercial.   And to make matters worse at the end of the commercial FOF has a plea for donations.

A petition has already been posted on Change.org that demands an apology from CBS.  But an apology is not enough.   CBS and the media in general need to learn that enabling hate groups that that hide behind religion to to support a hateful agenda is not okay.
Oh and by the way the Broncos LOST yesterday.  It seems that God does not like his name being used to support hate.

'The View' On Gay Marriage: Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar Take On Pope Benedict XVI's Controversial Remarks

Pope Benedict XVI's controversial stance on same-sex marriage sparked outcry from lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights advocates worldwide. Now, the ladies of "The View" are taking the pontiff to task over his controversial claims.

"Gay marriage doesn't affect my marriage," proclaimed Elisabeth Hasselbeck. "For people to actually say that gay marriage is harming marriage, and the idea of marriage, is inhumane."

Joy Behar took the more jovial route, noting, "Somebody wasn't invited to Elton John's wedding." But Sherri Shepherd went even further, calling attention to the numerous child abuse and gay sex scandals which have rattled the Catholic Church in recent years. "You've got a lot of people who are condemning things and they haven't cleaned house themselves, and they're doing the same things that they're condemning people for," she noted.

As Reuters reported Monday, the pope told diplomats from nearly 180 countries that the education of children needed proper "settings" and that "pride of place goes to the family, based on the marriage of a man and a woman."

MINNESOTA: Archbishop Tells Priests To Shut Up If They Oppose Anti-Gay Bill

"It is my expectation that all the priests and deacons in this Archdiocese will support this venture and cooperate with us in the important efforts that lie ahead. I call upon that promise in this effort to defend marriage. There ought not be open dissension on this issue. If any have personal reservations, I do not wish that they be shared publicly. If anyone believes in conscience that he cannot cooperate, I want him to contact me directly and I will plan to respond personally." - Archbishop John Nienstedt, in a message to his priests.

Rick Santorum channels Saint Augustine

Following his eight-vote near miss in the Iowa caucuses, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum is the man of the hour. Many people have commented on his profoundly conservative views on human sexuality. Santorum has clearly supported making abortion criminal and repealing all same-sex marriages, which he once compared to man on dog sex.

Santorum’s sexual policy clock, however, does not stop turning back in 2003 when the Supreme Court struck down sodomy laws or 1973 when the Supreme Court protected abortion. Santorum would turn it all the way back to 1964, when birth control was criminal in many states. Actually, Santorum’s sexual policy prescriptions start in the fourth century, when the Catholic theologian Augustine of Hippo confronted his unruly dick. After years of Gingriching around with every female in sight, Augustine came to Jesus. Despite his newfound commitment to disciplined, godly behavior, he just couldn’t keep the good man down. But he decided that at least he could justify, if not control, his irrepressible sexual desires by confining them to the otherwise consecrated ends of monogamous marriage and the reproduction and rearing of children.

The only acceptable sex is marital reproductive sex. All the rest of the Catholic teaching on sex is commentary.

Criminalizing abortion and forbidding gay marriage are still, regrettably, outside the total nutbag category in contemporary American politics. But if the only allowable sex is Catholic-approved reproductive sex, the picture starts to look distinctly weird. Birth control, for example.

Santorum has said repeatedly that he would work to overturn the Supreme Court’s 1965 decision in Griswold v. Connecticut, which stopped the states from making birth control criminal. And just in case you’re thinking that’s just to take the pill from those uppity women, the Catholic teaching is quite clear: All artificial birth control is forbidden, including the good old familiar male condom. Indeed, if the only allowable sex is marital sex, fornication and adultery would be similarly acceptable. The same doctrine forbids masturbation.

Sometimes Santorum tries to moderate the extremism of his views on sexual regulation by saying that he thinks the states should decide whether to make sex acts or birth control criminal; his quarrel is with the Supreme Court butting in and telling them they couldn’t throw the Planned Parenthood docs in the slammer.

If states do “dumb” things like outlawing masturbation and condoms, the solution should be to elect different state officials. But in fact Rick Santorum doesn’t think criminalizing birth control and fornication is dumb. Consistent with his Catholic faith, he believes all artificial birth control is wrong and that sex outside of marriage is not a healthy thing for the country.

And he advocates the legislation of morality: “(I)f family and moral values break down, government gets bigger and bigger. Social issues are central to every issue we deal with in America. Unless we get the moral issues right, we will never get the economic and foreign policy issues right.”

That an advocate of legislating strict Roman Catholic sexual doctrine came within eight votes of winning the first contest for the nomination of one of the two major American political parties warrants attention. Twenty-five years ago, opposition to Griswold helped sink the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Robert Bork. And the country has only become more sexually and gender diverse since then. Six states and D.C. authorize same-sex marriage. The second secretary of state in a row is a female, and she gathered 18 million primary votes in her bid for the presidency. Congress repealed the exclusion of openly gay and lesbian service members from the military. Even Mississippi didn’t adopt a law making two cells a “person.”

In this context, Rick Santorum’s candidacy, and the Republican Party that hungers for it, looks like a handful of the left-behind fighting a rear-guard action against modernity, which has passed them by. It’s understandable that they would focus their efforts on sex, where Augustine struggled so hard for control.

Like Augustine and his unruly member, the modern world, especially modern capitalism, makes people feel like they have lost control. As recent events reflect, this is not foolish. They have suffered from forces way beyond their control. But the solution to gaining some mastery over the environment lies in embracing modernity through modern institutions like the rule of law, collective action, proper regulation, counter-cyclical economic policy, rather than rejecting it. There’s a reason modern contraception is called birth control. Control is good. The mistake is in mistaking Wall Street for your dick (or your wife).

Western history since the Enlightenment has been peppered with such revolts against the modern world. Usually they are a sign of desperation and find their way, unassisted, to the dustbin of history. On the rare occasion when they take hold, however, they can be extremely dangerous.

TENNESSEE: Christianists Push Bill To Legalize Bullying Based On Religion

Here we go again, just like we saw in Michigan. Tennessee's WSMV reports on a new bill that is a "top priority" of the Family Action Council.

A proposal by some state lawmakers is already under fire, even before the legislative session begins. They're considering making a change in the law to allow students to speak out against homosexuality, if that's what their religious beliefs call for. Supporters have said this is about protecting the free-speech rights of students who want to express their views on homosexuality. But gay rights groups are calling the idea a "license to bully." Kelly Fussman is the founder of the No Hate Club at Hendersonville High School.

She says she sees examples of bullying every single day. "I've had a lot of friends bullied for just being who they are, whether it's for their sexuality, their gender identity, their religion," she said. Fussman says she is worried about the bill in the legislature that she believes could make the verbal abuse worse. The proposal would alter the state's anti-bullying laws to allow students to speak their religious and political views against homosexuality without punishment as long as the student isn't threatening harm or damaging property.

 

 

Anti-Gay AFA Loves Marriage So Much, They’ve Endorsed Gingrich for Prez

If the Southern Poverty Law Center hadn’t already designated the American Family Association a hate group, we’d be afraid that the group would have something of a credibility crisis on its hands after endorsing New Gingrich for president.

Newt’s virulently anti-gay, so there’s no problem there. The thing is, he’s also virulently anti-fidelity, having twice divorced wives he cheated on to marry his then mistresses. Wife number one notoriously got the Newt boot for “not being young or pretty enough to be First Lady.” Oh, and also having cancer.

Wife number two was also divorced after falling ill. Newt must have skipped the “in sickness and in health” part of his marriage vows.

The Des Moines Register writes:

The fact is simple — marriage equals money. Groups like AFA need gay people more than they need to “protect marriage.” If AFA wanted to protect marriage, it would be supporting laws to make divorce harder, not candidates who serve as its poster child.

 

No matter how much one twists logic, it is factually (and morally) impossible to reconcile the desire to “protect marriage” with the endorsement of Newt Gingrich. This was a disastrous decision by an organization that appears to care more about profiting from gay fearmongering than strengthening marriage.

The moral of this story, therefore, is clear. If you abandon two wives for two mistresses all you need to do is oppose the happiness of two people of the same sex to have your moral creds restored. Meet the Pharisees of the 21st century; a bunch of sad sacks time is leaving behind.

Catholic Cardinal: If Gays Protest The Church, They're As Bad As The KKK

Homofascists. Gaystapo. Those we've heard a million times. But this is a new brand freaking new one.

Cardinal Francis George, the Archbishop of Chicago, this week told a Chicago news station that he agreed with a local Roman Catholic church's objections to the city's recently-adjusted Gay Pride Parade route passing by its doors and warned that the parade could "morph into the Klu Klux Klan." George made the comment Sunday on Fox Chicago when asked about Our Lady of Mount Carmel's complaints that the parade passing by its Belmont Avenue location would force the church to cancel its morning mass. The church recently launched a petition urging the city to force parade organizers to adjust their plans. "I go with the pastor," George told Fox. "He's telling us that he won't be able to have services on Sunday if that's the case. You don't want the gay liberation movement to morph into something like the Klu Klux Klan, demonstrating in the streets against Catholicism."

MINNESOTA: Catholic Bishop Issues Prayer Against The Civil Rights Of Gay Americans

The Star-Tribune reports:

In an effort to promote the passage of the marriage amendment to the state's Constitution, Twin Cities Archbishop John Nienstedt wants Catholics to recite a special prayer during mass. He’s also urging area Catholics “to embrace Fridays as a particular day of prayer and sacrifice for the success of this most current struggle to defend marriage with our civil constitution. Without such deliberate prayers and sacrifices, our efforts will be in vain. But with God, all things are possible.”

“Much rides on the success of our struggle to defend marriage,” according to Nienstedt, who made the comments in a letter posted on the archdiocese’s website. It’s the latest effort by Minnesota church leaders urging Catholics to support passage of the proposed amendment, which calls for a ban on gay marriage. This fall, the state’s Catholic bishops took the unusual step of directing parish priests across the state to form committees to help get the marriage amendment passed by voters in November 2012.

Focus On The Family And The Christian Coalition Attack Johnny Depp Over Christmas Song

Now that the holidays are here The Christian Coalition, Focus on the Family, and other “Christomaniac religious activists” are taking a small break from their usual LGBT bashing to focus on the important things.  Like bashing and going after anyone who disagrees with their narrow minded vision of Christmas and that includes attacking Capt. Jack Sparrow himself, Johnny Depp.

Depp teamed up with Brit rockers Babybird to record The Jesus Stag Night Club, which tells a story o fa group of teenagers that hire a Jesus look-alike whom they convince to organize a “stag night”. When things go wrong, the Jesus look-alike (who likes to have a bit of the drink and drive the occasional stolen car) ends up dying and, somehow, learns that he actually is the REAL Jesus.

Predictably the extremist religious groups have come out swinging  demanding the song be banned from the airwaves and branding it “filth”!

Focus on the Family, the granddaddy of all anti-choice and anti-gay gay groups issued a statement saying “We are sickened by Mr. Depp’s behaviour. Why did he need to record this song? It is a slap in the face to Christians all over the world.”

Meanwhile The Christian Coalition’s Lee Douglas, whose main goal is to control the agenda of the Republican party by working from the grassroots up; and to train and elect pro-family, Christian candidates to public office when one histrionic step further saying that “I’m sure he thinks he’s being very funny but he’s simply a disgrace. One day, Johnny Depp and his cronies will face the judgment of our Lord and they will burn in hell for this filth.”

Depp is said to be “not concerned” about the controversy but its Babybird’s frontman Stephen Jones who sums it up perfectly: “Some people have no sense of humour.”

Yoga is SATANIC!

“Practicing yoga is Satanic, it leads to evil just like reading Harry Potter,” Father Gabriele Amorth said this week.


“In Harry Potter the Devil acts in a crafty and covert manner, under the guise of extraordinary powers, magic spells and curses,” said Amorth.

As for yoga, it leads to Hinduism and “all eastern religions are based on a false belief in reincarnation,” the 86-year-old priest said.

Science can’t explain evil, added Amorth, who claims to have performed 50,000 exorcisms before retiring in 2000. He is both founder and honorary president for life of the International Association of Exorcists.
The Pope has also warned that yoga “can degenerate into a cult of the body.”

One more reason I guess I am going to hell, gay isn't enough any more I guess.  Now I am satanic too because I practice yoga....Any thoughts on this craziness?

Teacher at Christian School Arrested for Masturbating During Class

 

Paul LaDuke: (Worst) Teacher of the Year?

A lesser known eleventh commandment – Thou shalt not jerk off at your podium in class while your students are trying their darndest to receive a proper education despite your, you know, jerking off in class – doesn’t get much play, mostly because it seems like such a completely obvious piece of common sense.

Well, that and divine word of God or not, it’s a total run-on sentence.

It’s a shame though, because a good Christian like 75-year-old Paul LaDuke sure could have used an FYI.

A longtime teacher at Schaumburg Christian School was charged with sexual exploitation of a child Tuesday for allegedly masturbating while students were in his classroom — an act, police said, that he might have performed repeatedly for 10 years or more.

 

Police said that on Friday, Paul LaDuke, 75, of Hanover Park, was seated behind his classroom podium when he lowered his pants and masturbated. A student allegedly saw him and reported it to a teacher, who relayed it to school administrators. LaDuke lost his job the same day, police said.

Police now suspect that LaDuke had been playing What Would Jesus Do With His Penis In Class for close to a decade now, so homeboy’s future is looking pretty grim.

You know what they say after all; “Fool me once, shame on you. Jerk off in a room full of minors for ten years, Go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Do not pleasure yourself while en route to jail. Save it for your cell. You’ll be there awhile.”

What do you mean you’ve never heard that one? It’s a classic American proverb.

Peter LaBarbera and AFTHA Use The Penn State Tragedy And It’s Victims To Promote Their Anti-Gay Agenda

The shock and sadness of what has happened to over 100 children at Penn State University has touched everyone in the country..  But it has touched none so much as disgusting anti-gay activists like Peter LaBarbera, the president of Naperville, Ill.-baesd Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH) who are blatantly using this tragedy and its innocent victims to push thier hateful anti-gay agenda.

LaBarbera, who falsely keeps claiming that Jerry Sandusky’s horrid actions are the result of being gay even though Sandusky identifies as heterosexual, is married, and has grown children is now blaming LGBT-rights advocates for having a hand in  perpetuating sexual violence against children in an oft handed way. 

On Thursday LaBarbera sent out he following Press Release not once, but THREE times via the news-wire service the Christian Communication Network:

Sandusky is married but obviously has a homosexuality (perversion) problem. Yet pro-”gay” liberals will deny any linkage between homosexuality and Sandusky’s rape/seduction of boys. In fact, after news of the Penn State scandal came to light, “gay” activists stressed that Sandusky is married and that most pedophile cases involve “straight, married men.” However, behavior is what matters – not a person’s marital status or self-described “sexual orientation.” Sandusky was married but was he really “straight” (sexually or morally)? Some inner demons or life traumas – probably in his own youth – caused him to lust for boys, wrecking untold misery in the lives of his victims. Behavior is the issue, and this was a case of a serial homosexual predator raping boys.

For LaBarbera and other right wing  supposedly “Christian” groups to use this horrible tragedy and its victims to spout lies and misinformation just to push their own hateful agenda is monstrous.   Numerous studies and reasearch from reputable organizations and accredited institutions of higher learning, unlike that of the sham research that LaBarbera and his ilk use, proves there is NO LINK whatsoever between being gay and child molestation,

We can not allow laBarbera and the “christian right” to use this tragedy, and those poor children for their own hateful purposes and they should finally be seen by all as the hateful sociopath monsters that they really are.
