NEW YORK CITY: Police Seek Prostitute In Strangulation Murder Of Chelsea Gay Man

On Friday night Manhattan resident John Laubach, 57, was found bound, gagged, and apparently strangled to death in his Chelsea apartment. Police are seeking a young man that Laubach may have hired that evening on Rentboy.com.

Police late Monday released a set of surveillance photos of a man allegedly caught trying to using John Laubach's bank card after he died, police said. The photos are from an ATM machine camera. Earlier Monday, police questioned a 24-year-old man but released him after interviewing him. Law-enforcement sources told NBC New York that they were led to the man after using facial recognition software on a still photo taken from a surveillance camera. The search turned up a possible hit -- an old mugshot for the 24-year-old man. John Laubach was found unconscious in his fourth-floor apartment at 212 West 22nd St. in Chelsea just before 8 p.m. Friday, when a friend went to check on him, according to police. His arms were found bound to the bedpost by an electrical cord, his mouth gagged with tape and his face covered with a towel, authorities said.

Friends say Laubach was active in a local gay-affirming church and had been studying to become a pastor. Neighbors report that Laubach lived quietly and occasionally had young male visitors. Elijah Whitney Cohens II reached out and touched someone alright, many someones as Cohen used Gay Sex Chatlines in the Portland OR area to rob at least 4 -6 gay men in a 4 week period between May – June of 2011

Investigators say that Cohen’s tactics and targets varied widely and victims ranged in age from their 20s to 60s.  But after setting a date via phone and meeting-up  Cohen always said he was a police officer — and that he had a gun. (Cohens also had sex with two victims before robbing them.)

Cohen’s even  tracked down one victim at the victim’s apartment, although the victim hadn’t given Cohens his address. Cohens tied him up and walked out with $5,000 worth of the man’s valuables, including a big-screen TV.

Portland police were able to track down Cohens because of DNA he left behind a cigarette the  DNA was matched with a previous sample entered into the state database after Cohens’ previous felony convictions, which include robbery, forgery, assault and burglary.

Cohens pleaded guilty in Multnomah County Circuit Court to first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and criminal impersonation of an officer. Judge Angel Lopez sentenced Cohens to 150 months (14.5 years) in prison and ordered him to pay $7,000 in restitution.

Daniel Rick convicted of knowingly spreading HIV virus

Daniel Rick could get 10 years in prison, and is facing two other charges.

​Daniel Rick has been found guilty of knowingly spreading the HIV virus through unprotected sex with another man, a felony that could put him behind bars for as long as a decade.

The man who had sex with Rick in the spring of 2009, when the two had known each other only briefly, told police the encounter was wholly consensual. But Rick didn't mention his HIV infection to the other man, who soon fell ill.

Rick, now 26, had known of his own illness for at least three years at that point, but never -- not before, during, or after the unprotected sex -- mentioned his affliction to his partner, who figured it out only after doctors told him he was HIV-positive.

On Friday, a jury found Rick guilty of felony assault. His conviction, which is classified as a first-degree assault, is the first of its kind in Hennepin County. Daniel is also facing trial for two other similar cases.

After Rick and the other man met online and exchanged messages for some time, Rick came in to the Saloon Bar, where his victim worked as a bartender. At the end of his shift, the bartender went to meet Rick for a late-night hook-up.

During the anal sex, during which neither man wore a condom, Rick ejaculated inside the other man, according to the criminal complaint filed in March 2010 by the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

Spokesman Chuck Laszewski confirmed that Rick is the first person in the county convicted under the crime of felony assault for "knowing transfer of communicable disease," and Laszewski said it might also be the first of its kind in Minnesota.

The jury's conviction, which came down on Friday, means Rick's fate now lies in the hands of the judge. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 28, which will also be used to set a trial date for two other cases being brought against Rick.

6 Parishioners Dead After Lying Pastor Tells Them They’ve Been Cured of HIV

 

A Sky News undercover investigation has revealed that evangelical churches in the UK have been lying to HIV positive patients about the curative powers of holy water, and insisting that patients stop taking their HIV medications. Now at least six are dead.

The broadcaster sent three undercover reporters to the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), in the south London Borough of Southwark.

 

All of them were told by pastors they could be healed.

The team – who are all HIV positive – had water sprayed in their faces as part of the healing process.

They were also shouted at and told it would rid them of the devil.

One of the pastors, Rachel Holmes, told Sky News, that SCOAN has a “100% success rate”, adding: “if symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhoea persist, it is actually a sign of the virus leaving the body”.

Except that’s diarrhea and vomiting aren’t a sign that HIV is rocketing out of your body because Christ commands it to. No, those are signs you are dying of HIV. 

Multiple investigations into the – we’re just going to go ahead and play fortune teller here for a second – criminal actions these churches are engaged in.

In addition to the deaths that have been reported, a case of HIV transmission has been documented by the boyfriend of a male parishioner who stopped HIV treatment after being “cured” by his pastor.

N.Y. man to serve 18 months for Provincetown hate crime

A Staten Island, N.Y., man has been sentenced to 18 months of jail after being found guilty of multiple charges of assault and battery and a civil rights violation for a hate crime July 31 in Provincetown involving a gay couple.

Steven Caminiti, 24, who has family in Wellfleet, admitted Oct. 26 to sufficient facts for a guilty finding on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery to intimidate, assault and battery to intimidate with bodily injury and a civil rights violation.

A second suspect, Dorjee Gyadatsang of Provincetown, 24, was released Wednesday because there was not enough evidence against him, court records show.

The incident in Provincetown occurred just after midnight when two gay men were walking along Pleasant Street, and a car passed them headed in the wrong direction on the one-way street, court records show. One of the two men told the driver that the car was headed in the wrong direction, and that comment led to the car stopping and the two occupants getting out. A fight ensued, and a beer bottle was broken over one of the victim's heads.

Caminiti later was identified by one of the men as the assailant, court records show.

A second charge against Caminiti of assault and battery to intimidate with bodily injury and three charges of assault and battery were dismissed at the request of prosecutors, court records show.

Assault and battery to intimidate and a civil rights violation are charges reportable under the state's hate crime statute, said Cape and Islands First Assistant District Attorney Michael Trudeau on Friday.

Caminiti is also required to attend an awareness program, court records show. His jail sentence will run concurrent with other probation violation sentences, according to court records.

"I couldn't be any more pleased with the outcome, certainly with the Provincetown police response and investigation, and with taking care of the victims," Provincetown Police Chief Jeff Jaran said on Friday. "Initially, we were going on very little."

LAS VEGAS -- A San Diego woman who claims pop star Justin Bieber fathered her 3-month-old son has a court date in Las Vegas on allegations she slapped an ex-boyfriend.

Court records show 20-year-old Mariah Yeater faces a bench trial Dec. 12 on a misdemeanor battery charge that could get her six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. A police report says Yeater slapped her 18-year-old ex-boyfriend Dec. 21, 2010. The two were arguing about a window broken on the car of the his new girlfriend. The case was first reported by TMZ. Yeater's lawyer in the battery case, John Spilotro, says she pleaded not guilty, and he declined to comment further. Yeater attended school in Las Vegas before withdrawing from 10th grade in 2008. She is suing the 17-year-old Bieber in California, seeking a paternity test and child support.

Texas KDAF-TV has an interview with Burke Burnett that gay man who last week was stabbed, beaten, and thrown onto a lit fire.

Three suspects are now in custody.  Daniel Martin, James Mitchell Laster and Micky Joe Smith are being held on $250,000 bond each.
Reno’s mayor William Heuberger calls the attack appalling. He says his sympathy goes to the victim and no one deserves this kind of treatment. The penalties could be increased to include a hate crime. “At the end of the day, the jury will make a finding that it qualifies as a hate crime or if the judge will make that finding”, said Burnett’s attorney Dan Haslam.


 

Felony Charges Filed In Attack On Gay Ninth Grader In Chillicothe, OH

LGBT blogs have been buzzing about a brutal gay bashing inside an Chillicothe, Ohio high school classroom was captured on video and then posted on Facebook last week.  (Which I will not be posting here out of respect for the victim)
The attack happened at Union-Scioto High School in Chillicothe, where students waited for the victim, Zach, to enter the classroom. Once inside, the unprovoked beating began.
“The boy stood there and waited on him and waited on him and waited on him,” the boy’s mother explains. “And as soon as he walks in the door, the boy hits him… he knocks the living crap out of him.”
Other children stood by and did nothing to stop the attack while taping video of it on thier cell phones.
The attacker 15 year old Levi Sever who originally received only a three-day suspension for beating his victim so badly the boy came away with a concussion and chipped tooth, will now appear later in juvenile court to answer to the charge filed by the office of Prosecutor Matthew Schmidt following an investigation by the sheriff’s office.
Equality Ohio’s Kim Welter told WBNS 10, that “just suspending students isn’t the answer to bullying. We need to be doing a whole lot more talking about how we treat each other and that we respect each other and that no bullying is tolerated.”
I agree 100 percent.  If I had my way I would see the  boys parents be punished, too. At the very least, they’re guilty of raising an evil little fuck and  they’re just as much to blame for being negligent or passing down their own hate and bigotry.
If changing  “hearts and minds” through school assemblys and literature doesn;t work its well past time to make sure these little bullys and hate mongers are scared straight.
Or at least scared LGBT tolerant.
